The traditional reading
Hexagram 51 is the thunderbolt — shock arriving without warning, from within or without. Its teaching is remarkable: in the moment of thunder, the wise person becomes calm and precise. The shock can wake you to what you had avoided; let it pass, lose nothing of your poise, and use the awakening.
