The traditional reading
Hexagram 41 is the honest subtraction — taking away what is unnecessary so that what remains can be true. It asks you to give something up: an expense, a habit, an expectation. What is decreased in the outer world is increased in the inner one, and this offering of sincerity is worth more than grand ceremony.
