The traditional reading
Hexagram 18 is the poisoned cup left by the past — decay that must be set right rather than ignored. This is repair work: find what has rotted, root it out, and build again on clean ground. The task may be unpleasant and the blame may land unfairly, but clearing the corruption is the only way forward.
