The traditional reading
Hexagram 17 is the follower who has not surrendered their judgment. The wise follow when the leader’s cause is right and the timing is ripe, and they step back when it is not. Do not lead for the sake of leading; do not follow for the sake of pleasing. Adapt, but stay oriented.
